We are seeking solutions and business plans for global challenges that could have a significant impact on society, as well as business plans that aim to turn disruptive, innovative, and challenging ideas into reality.

We are accepting self-nominations or nominations for startups with a mission to UPDATE the Earth on behalf of Japan.
(Note 1) As defined in Article 2, Section 14 of the Act on the Promotion of Science and Technology Innovation (Act No. 63 of 2008), eligible applicants are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are registered in Japan, have their primary technology development and decision-making activities based in Japan, and have been established for no more than 15 years.
Information about the nominator will not be disclosed to the nominee.
If you are nominating someone, please obtain the nominee’s consent prior to submission. The UPDATE EARTH Competition Secretariat will contact the nominee during the selection process.

    Target Group

    Individuals or organizations that support innovators

    We are accepting nominations for supporters who contribute to updating the Earth by supporting innovators (such as those involved in business contests, acceleration programs, incubation facilities, local governments, educational institutions, etc.). This project aims to create an innovation platform by building a strong network with various players surrounding innovation, thus fostering, discovering, and growing entrepreneurs and startups that will update the Earth.

    ※ The development support grant amount will be decided and notified upon selection. It does not guarantee full payment of the requested budget submitted during the application process. Detailed budget plans and supplementary documents may be requested.

    ※ The priority investment negotiation rights arise based on the discretion of potential investors and do not guarantee the opportunity for investment negotiations.

    SELECTION PROCESS
  • After the organizing committee confirms the application requirements and submitted materials, the selection will be carried out through document review and interview selection by evaluators designated by the organizing committee, based on criteria to be separately announced.
  • The results of the document review will be published on the website, and individuals who pass the interview selection will be contacted individually. The organizing committee will also contact applicants to arrange interview details.
  • No contact will be made with individuals who do not pass any of the selection stages. Furthermore, the details of the selection process will not be disclosed under any circumstances.
